The wedding site is just steps from the Harvard Square T (subway) entrance. We strongly recommend guests arrive via either public transportation or hotel shuttle (which many of our recommended hotels provide) — not only because we would like to encourage people to use public transit, but because we're pretty sure you'll be happier if you avoid driving in Harvard Square. There will, nevertheless, be a limited number of parking passes available; please contact us if you will need one.

We're providing a map (~2MB PDF) of Harvard Square, for your not-getting-lost pleasure. Here's how to find the church, which is where the ceremony and reception will be happening:

By Rail

Harvard Square is on the MBTA Red Line, and the church is just outside the station entrance. If you're starting north of Harvard Square (at Porter Square, Davis Square, or Alewife), take any inbound train to Harvard Square. (The train's final destination will be either Ashmont or Braintree; either is fine.) If you're starting south of Harvard Square (at Kenmore, Park, South Station, or anywhere else), take any train toward Alewife and get off at Harvard Square.

Once at Harvard Square, follow the signs to Church Street (also the 86 and 66 buses). The church will be immediately visible just across Church Street.

The adult fare is $2.00, and you can purchase CharlieTickets at any station kiosk. For more information on the subway, visit mbta.com.

By Bus

Many bus routes will take you to Harvard Square: the 1, 66, 68, 69, 71, 72, 73, 74, 75, 77, 78, 86, and 96. Visit mbta.com for details.

By Shuttle

Several of our recommended hotels offer a free shuttle to Harvard Square. Contact the individual hotels for details.

By Air

The MBTA "Silver Line" (in reality a bus) runs from all Logan Airport terminals to South Station, which is on the Red Line. Transfer there to any Red Line train toward Alewife, and get off at Harvard Square. Follow the directions above.

By Car

NOTE: Due to construction in Harvard Square, it is no longer possible to turn left on Brattle. (We consider this further justification for the warning below.) The directions have been amended to reflect the change, and now will take you to a nearby parking garage.

As the First Parish Church website says, "Harvard Square is a maze of one way streets and is easiest to navigate with a map." But if you'd like to attempt it, here's how to get there:

From the Massachusetts Turnpike (I-90), take the Cambridge/Brighton exit 18. Stay right through the toll booth and follow the signs to Cambridge. (You'll be on River Street at this point.) Just after the bridge over the Charles, turn left onto Memorial Drive. Keeping the river on your left, follow it through two sets of lights, then turn right onto JFK Street at the third light. Turn left at the first light, onto Eliot Street. Go straight through the next light onto Bennett Street. Bennett dead-ends at University Road; turn left on University, and you will immediately see the University Place Garage on your left. (It's just about where Legal Sea Foods is marked on our map, with the legend "Le".) Parking is around $17 for the day, and the church is a few blocks away.

To walk to the church from the garage, follow University back the way you came, until it dead-ends at Mount Auburn. Turn right on Mount Auburn, then left on Brattle a block later. Brattle will snake around a little bit and take you directly to the church.

(Note: Google Maps, for some reason, thinks you can't travel on Memorial Drive from River to JFK. You can. Fear not.)

By Kayak

Travel downriver along the Charles until you pass under the Larz Anderson Bridge. Debark at the boathouse on the north shore. Portage northward along JFK until you reach Harvard Square.

If you are coming from the Atlantic Ocean/Boston Harbor, travel upriver, and stop before the Larz Anderson Bridge.
